
Mollie George joins the UNO/UNL Department of Gerontology as a full-time faculty member on the UNL campus. This fall she will be teaching Introduction to Gerontology and Programs and Services while advising and overseeing practicum students at UNL.
Mollie is a Nebraska native and lives in Lincoln. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Laboratory Science from University of Nebraska Medical Center and a Master of Arts in Gerontology from Concordia University- Seward.
She is ASCP certified through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist. She also holds certifications as a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) and as a Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional (CMDCP).
Mollie is already very familiar with the Department of Gerontology. She has previously served as an adjunct instructor, graduate assistant, and currently, as a doctoral candidate in the Department of Gerontology. Her current research interests include dementia caregiving, self-sustainable housing involving inclusive design for older adults, and the effects of Covid-19 on older adults living in senior living communities.
She is the co-founder of Messiah Respite Project which partners with Messiah Lutheran Church to provide free-of-charge respite for those caring for a loved one with dementia.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, Nebraska History, golfing, and spending time with family.
